PA GOP: Vice Chair Joyce Haas Releases Statement Regarding U.S. Senator Arlen Specter’s Exchange With Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann

HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Vice-Chair Joyce Conklin Haas released the following statement regarding U.S. Senator Arlen Specter’s comments yesterday:

“Senator Specter’s comments are incredibly offensive and crystallize perfectly why we need fresh leadership for Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate.  The fact that Senator Specter is scolding a Congresswoman, telling her to ‘act like a lady’ because she dared to disagree with him, is just further proof that Senator Arlen Specter has lost touch with the values of Pennsylvania women.  It seems that Senator Specter is used to talking at people and not to them, which is exactly why Pennsylvanians have grown so frustrated with everything they see from the Democratic in Washington.  Senator Specter owes an apology to all his constituents, both women and men, for his boorish behavior.”

On Wednesday’s night Dom Giordano Show, Senator Arlen Specter repeatedly told Minnesota Republican Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann to ‘act like a lady.’ (“The Obama Administration’s First Year: A Progress Report,” The Dom Giordano Show, 1/20/09)
