Democrats Desperately Cling To Their Government-Run Health Care Experiment

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding today’s bipartisan health care summit in Washington.

“Today, the American people watched as President Obama and the Democrats rolled out the same old government-run health care plan and failed to engage in a true bipartisan discussion of health care,” Gleason said. “Time and time again, the concrete solutions that Republicans brought to the table were dismissed by a President and a Democratic Party that refuse to deviate from their rigid liberal agenda.

“Republicans arrived at this summit eager for a real discussion regarding the health care issues that are facing our nation. Unfortunately, what we got was a publicity stunt staged by the White House in order to give President Obama the appearance of bipartisanship.

“Bipartisanship takes a willingness to listen and constructively engage in discussions, something which was sadly not witnessed during today’s health care summit.

“Americans deserve an honest discussion about our health care system that focuses on controlling costs while making it easier for citizens to gain and maintain coverage even if they move or change jobs.

“Until President Obama and the Democrats in Washington begin to listen to what their constituents are saying about health care, I’m afraid we will only get more of these publicity stunts.”
