HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason was disappointed to learn that Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper has decided to keep $14,000 in campaign contributions that she received from corrupt Democrat Congressman Charlie Rangel.
“Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper’s decision to keep $14,000 in ‘dirty campaign money’ she received from Charlie Rangel shows that she wants to continue her association with the ethically-challenged Congressman,” Gleason said. “From his corrupt backroom dealings to his failure to pay his taxes, Charlie Rangel would seem to be the last person that an elected official be associating with, but that hasn’t stopped Kathy Dahlkemper from accepting his support. This acceptance is a direct endorsement of his unethical behavior.
“Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper owes the people of the 3rd Congressional District an explanation for her conscious decision to associate herself, and by extension her constituents, with a corrupt government official like Charlie Rangel. Congresswoman Dahlkemper should be a leader and return his money. It’s sad I even have to make this request.”
In an article in The Meadville Tribune, Congresswoman Dahlkemper, through her spokesperson, indicated that she would not be returning donations she secured from Charlie Rangel.
According to the Federal Election Commission, Congresswoman Dahlkemper received $14,000 in overall campaign contributions from Congressman Rangel and his Political Action Committees.(http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/can_give/H8PA03084)
