PA GOP: ObamaCare Decision Time: Will Congressman Kanjorski Choose President Obama Over His Constituents?

HARRISBURG – As President Barack Obama heads to the Keystone State to make his latest government-run health care pitch, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason calls on Congressman Paul Kanjorski to stand up and voice his strong opposition to a plan that no one wants.

“Congressman Paul Kanjorski’s continued support for President Obama’s government-run health care plan takes his track record of pandering to special interests groups to a whole new low,” Gleason said. “Paul Kanjorski has already admitted that Democrats didn’t ‘give a damn’ about their constituents’ concerns when they passed government-run health care the first time, a measure that he supported.

“Given that he openly admits that Democrats’ were more concerned about using government-run health care to score a political victory than improving our current system, will Congressman Paul Kanjorski again chose to stand with President Obama and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi as Democrats attempt to force government-run health care onto the American people?

“The people of the 11th Congressional District are watching.”

On February 18, 2010, The Hazleton Standard-Speaker quoted Congressman Paul Kanjorski as saying, “His administration and he seemed to freeze in place, and so did the Congress that ‘we don’t give a damn, we’re going to have health care.’” (Michael Sisak, “Kanjorski: Dems Didn’t Adjust,” The Hazleton Standard-Speaker, 2/18/10, http://standardspeaker.com/news/kanjorski-dems-didn-t-adjust-1.625597)

During a late Saturday night vote on November 7, 2009, Congressman Paul Kanjorski cast his vote for the U.S. House’s version of the government-run health care plan. (“Affordable Health Care for America Act: Roll Call 887,” http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll887.xml)
