HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Secretary and Dauphin County Republican Committee Chairman John McNally and Executive Director Luke Bernstein held a press conference today to call on Congressman Tim Holden to return ethically-challenged Charlie Rangel’s ‘dirty money.’
“The people of the 17th Congressional District deserve a Congressman who will stand up and do what’s right, even when it means going against the entrenched Democratic leadership of Nancy Pelosi and her friends like Charlie Rangel,” McNally said. “On November 2nd, 2010, I am confident that the voters of this district will send Congressman Holden a strong message about how they about the company he keeps in Washington, D.C.”
“Congressman Holden was elected to represent the people of the 17th Congressional District,” Bernstein continued. “But what type of leader chooses to stand with someone who has defiantly abused our taxpayer dollars and has even gone as far as accepting $19,000 in campaign contributions from him? For the sake of Congressman Holden’s constituents, it’s time for Tim Holden to step out of the shadows and return every last penny of Charlie Rangel’s ‘dirty money.’
“How long will Tim Holden, Paul Kanjorski, Kathy Dahlkemper, Joe Sestak and Jason Altmire continue to benefit from the financial support of a corrupt Democrat official? Their colleague Chris Carney joined over twenty other Democratic Congressmen in returning or donating their dirty Rangel cash, when will they follow suit?”
Today, Congressman Chris Carney announced that he has returned his $21,000 in tainted campaign cash from Charlie Rangel. (Seder, Andrew, “Carney Campaign to Donate Rangel Funds,” Wilkes Barre Times Leader, 3/4/10)
