PA GOP: Here We Go Again, Carney Flip-Flops on Tax Cuts

HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Spokesman Mike Barley released the following statement regarding 10th Congressional District Congressman Chris Carney’s sudden change of heart regarding the tax cuts currently being discussed in Congress.

“It must be election season, because campaign season Chris Carney is once again trying to run away from his liberal voting record,” Barley said. “After all, it’s not a coincidence that a man who votes with Nancy Pelosi 91% of the time has a sudden change of heart regarding the tax cuts just a few days after polls showing him fading fast in his Congressional race.

“The fact of the matter is that Carney’s decision to flip-flop on tax cuts is too little, too late for the people of the 10th Congressional District. No matter what he may say or do, Chris Carney still voted for awful tax-and-spend policies like the nearly $1 trillion stimulus package and government-run health care. That’s why, on November 2nd, Chris Carney will be fired by the people of the 10th Congressional District!”
In 2006, Carney flat-out rejected extending tax cuts, but recently, in the midst of a difficult reelection fight, he confirmed that he would support extending all of them.
