GOP stars boost top of ticket

Pennsylvania’s top Republican candidates directed their party’s star power on the GOP heartland Friday to rev up foot soldiers headed into the final weekend of fall campaigning.

U.S. Senate nominee Pat Toomey and gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett both lead in the polls. Still, they urged a crowd of about 600 who had gathered in a chill wind on the tarmac at Lancaster Airport to work until the polls close at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

“I promise you the other side has not given up,” Toomey, a former Lehigh Valley congressman, told the GOP faithful. “I’m going to ask you not to let up. I feel there is a victory within reach, but it’s not yet in hand. We can all be confident, but we can’t be complacent.”
