PA GOP: D.C. “Outsider” Callahan Continues To Look To His D.C. Buddies Like Joe Biden For A Bailout

HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Pittsburgh today.

“It’s not surprising that Vice President Joe Biden is raising money for John Callahan, considering that he’s the pet project of a failing Democratic establishment,” Gleason said. “Since announcing his candidacy, he has received help from Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Let me tell you, these Democratic leaders wouldn’t be making the trip to the 15th Congressional District unless they were campaigning for someone who they felt is a definitive ‘yes’ vote for their job-killing, high-tax agenda.

“Given the fact that John Callahan is running to serve as a rubberstamp for an extreme liberal Congress, it makes sense that he would hold a fundraiser with Joe Biden , Stim-u-less King. Joe Biden called a summer of nearly double-digit unemployment rates the ‘summer of recovery,’ does John Callahan feel the same way? Biden and Callahan supported a stimulus bill that sent jobs overseas and drove many Americans out of work.

“While John Callahan and Joe Biden hob-knob with their high-dollar donors and champion bills that support sending jobs overseas, and Charlie Dent will keep working hard for the people of the 15thCongressional District.”

In addition to supporting government-run health care, John Callahan has also been an ardent supporter of the nearly $1 trillion stimulus package that has done nothing to keep the unemployment rate from reaching nearly double-digit levels. (Lynn Olanoff, “John Callahan, Charlie Dent, Jack Towne Debate At WFMZ,” The Express-Times, 10/14/10,http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/elections/index.ssf?/base/news-0/1287029113316840.xml&coll=3)

A September 9th, 2010 report for The Washington Times found:

“The Department of Energy estimated that 82,000 jobs have been created and has acknowledged that as much as 80 percent of some green programs, including $2.3 billion of manufacturing tax credits, went to foreign firms that employed workers primarily in countries including China, South Korea and Spain, rather than in the United States.” (Patrice Hill, “Green Jobs No Longer Golden In Stimulus,” The Washington Times, 9/9/10,http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/sep/9/green-jobs-no-longer-golden-in-stimulus/)
