Republican Tom Corbett, the twice-elected Pennsylvania attorney general who capitalized on his reputation as a corruption fighter in Harrisburg, was elected governor by a solid margin Tuesday. On a day when Republicans also captured the state House to reign supreme in the Capitol, Corbett rather easily defeated Democrat Dan Onorato in a battle between candidates who lived just miles apart in the Pittsburgh area. “I want to thank you for your vote,” Corbett, 61, said as his white-on-white hair shone in the TV lights from a stage at Pittsburgh’s Omni William Penn Hotel. “Thank you for your vote,” he said to cheers. “Thank you for your confidence in me. And I promise I am going to work very hard for the people of Pennsylvania.” He added: “I understand with this election that I am the governor for all Pennsylvanians – not Republicans, not Democrats, but all Pennsylvanians.” Republican Tom Corbett, the twice-elected Pennsylvania attorney general who capitalized on his reputation as a corruption fighter in Harrisburg, was elected governor by a solid margin Tuesday.
