Luzerne County GOP will celebrate its ‘historic’ victory

The announcement that came from the Luzerne County Republican Committee said they were calling Thursday night’s Victory Celebration a historic event “because it truly is.”The county GOP will host a victory party 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Genetti Hotel & Conference Center, 77 E. Market St., because the local GOP has plenty to celebrate.

Special guests are Lou Barletta and Tom Marino, winners of the congressional seats in the 11th and 10th Districts, respectively.

Tarah Toohil defeated Democratic House Majority Leader Todd Eachus in the state 116th Legislative District.

State Sen. Lisa Baker ran unopposed in the 20th Senatorial District. State Rep. Karen Boback won re-election in the 117th Legislative District.

“For the first time in history, we have two congressmen in Luzerne County that are Republican,” said Terry Casey, GOP county chairman. “We have a couple of state representatives, a state senator, a Republican governor and a Republican U.S. senator.”
