Gov.-elect Tom Corbett calls meeting with Obama productive

Gov.-elect Tom Corbett was among nearly two dozen newly elected governors who met with President Barack Obama in Washington on Thursday.

The roughly hour-and-a-half meeting at Blair House, which stands opposite the White House, also included Vice President Joe Biden and a number of Cabinet secretaries.

Corbett described the meeting as productive, covering a variety of subjects, chief among them the budget shortfalls many states face and the budgetary concerns facing federal officials, said Kevin Harley, spokesman for Corbett. The meeting also touched on issues surrounding health care, including rising Medicaid costs, Harley said.
