New Pa. Governor Tom Corbett Takes Oath

Tom Corbett became Pennsylvania‘s 46th Governor in temperatures just above freezing and chilling rain in Harrisburg.

Governor Corbett was sworn in on the steps of the east entrance to the state Capitol.  Pa. Supreme Court chief justice Ron Castille administered the oath.

The new governor placed his left hand on the 1698 William Penn Bible from the Historical Society of Pennylvania’s collection in Philadelphia, which was held by his wife. Susan.

Lt. Governor Jim Cawley, a former Bucks County commissioner, took the oath earlier in the state Senate chamber.

The inaugural celebration began with a morning Mass at The Cathedral of Saint Patrick.

There is no parade.  At 7:30 p.m. the Inaugural Ball will take place at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.
