Representative Barletta Named To Small Business Committee

WASHINGTON– Representative Lou Barletta released the following statement regarding his key appointment to the House Committee on Small Business.

“I am honored to have this special opportunity to stand up for small businesses in our area and our country,” Barletta said. “As a former small business owner, I understand the challenges and difficulties that come with trying to maintain such an enterprise. Small businesses serve as the backbone of our economy, and it is absolutely critical that we provide them with the freedom to grow and create jobs.”

“As a former small business owner, Congressman Barletta knows how government policies can help or harm job creation and entrepreneurship; as a former mayor, he understands local economic development,” said Small Business Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO). “At a time when we are focused on getting America back to work, we need public servants with real-world experiences like that of Lou. His commitment to creating jobs will make him a forceful advocate in Washington for small business owners and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Created to protect and assist America’s small business community, the Small Business Committee has jurisdiction over matters related to the financial aid, regulatory flexibility, and paperwork reduction of small businesses. Additionally, the House Small Business Committee possesses legislative authority over the Small Business Administration (SBA) and its programs.

In addition to the Small Business Committee, Barletta also serves the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee as well as the Committee on Education and the Workforce.
