Less than two months ago, Pennsylvanians witnessed Republican Governor Tom Corbett placing his hand on William Penn’s Bible to take the oath of office. This ceremony was important for citizens across the Commonwealth for a multitude of reasons. Not only did we observe the peaceful transition of power, we realized that our collective efforts – the phone calls, door knocks, and the hard work of the GOP’s grassroots and thousands of volunteers – culminated in electing a leader who will make profound changes in our Commonwealth by answering the call for more jobs, less taxes, and real reform.
Getting Pennsylvania Back on track won’t be easy. Governor Corbett has inherited a fiscal mess and tough economic times threaten our Commonwealth’s future prosperity and growth.
But that is why we elect courageous leaders like Tom Corbett and qualified Republican legislators to public office. They will ‘walk-the-walk’ and make the tough decisions that will secure our Commonwealth’s future for many generations to come
In his inaugural address, Governor Corbett said, “As we turn this new page in history, Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley and I seek to chart a new
course for Pennsylvania. Together, we are dedicated to leadership that is responsive to fiscal realities; leadership that takes on financial burdens, rather than passing those burdens on to the next generation; and leadership that can see beyond today’s turbulence and into tomorrow’s tranquility.”
As Governor Corbett makes the tough decisions in the coming weeks and beyond that will lay the framework to put Pennsylvania’s finances back on track, it will be incumbent upon each of us to stand by our elected officials and support their efforts to rein in spending and instill fiscal responsibility in government. This is why we sent them to Harrisburg; for the betterment of Pennsylvania’s future.
