PA GOP: Will Senator Bob Casey Stand with Harry Reid to Shut Down the Government and Block Troop Funding?

HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following regarding statement regarding U.S. Senate Democrats’ decision to put partisan politics ahead of the American people’s interests by refusing to consider House legislation which keeps the federal government operating:

“Instead of working in a bipartisan manner to pass a fiscally responsible federal budget that keeps our government open for business, Senators Harry Reid and Bob Casey are willing to take their political games to a deplorable level by refusing to consider House legislation which keeps the federal government open for business. Senator Bob Casey’s willingness to hold federal employee paychecks hostage for the sake of political partisanship, including those of our military men and women serving in harm’s way, brings his judgment into serious question. Is he working for Harry Reid or is he working for us? I urge Pennsylvanians to call Senator Casey at (202)-224-6324 and demand that the Senate get back to work and support the House’s responsible measure to keep our troops funded,” Chairman Rob Gleason said.

In an effort to keep the federal government open and protect the funding for America’s military men and women, Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives have passed a one-week continuing resolution  that preserves full funding for our troops through September 2011.
