PA GOP: Keep More Money in Pennsylvanians’ Wallets

Governor Corbett continues to fight for lower taxes and responsible spending.

HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason issued the following statement reiterating support for Governor Tom Corbett’s proposed 2011-2012 budget that confronts government spending while holding the line on taxes:

“Governor Tom Corbett’s 2011-2012 fiscally responsible budget proposal puts Pennsylvania back on the right track by curbing wasteful government spending while not raising our taxes by a single cent. In spite of a $4 billion budget gap, this was a huge victory for Pennsylvania taxpayers, empowering families to keep more of their hard earned money in their wallets as they work through a difficult economy,” Chairman Rob Gleason said.

“Last year Pennsylvanians demanded fiscal responsibility and that is exactly what Governor Corbett is delivering. Pennsylvania has a spending problem, not a revenue problem, and it’s unfortunate that some would push across the board tax increases than make the difficult but necessary budget decisions to ensure Pennsylvania is living within its means. The sad reality is that countless, hardworking Pennsylvania families have been forced to make tough decisions on their own because Governor Rendell and his Democrat colleagues failed to do so. The bottom line is that we all need to support commonsense solutions that include living within our means to reverse the spending explosion that marked years of Democrat fiscal mismanagement.  Governor Corbett is leading that charge and we stand squarely behind him.”
