Diploma program students made a two-day trip to Harrisburg recently to learn about Pennsylvania State government. Students also toured the capital and met with Sen. Joe Scarnati, Sen. Mary Jo White and Rep. Kathy Rapp. Students were able to ask questions how Pennsylvania government works. They learned about current issues like Marcellus shale drilling fees, abortion clinic oversight and more. They also shared their diploma program experiences with the legislators. This was the first trip to Harrisburg for most of the participants. The five diploma program students, along with nine others will graduate on May 26. Rapp is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at their graduation. Pictured, from left, are students Alisha Hernandez, Doug Wagner, Alyssa McDowell, Debra Blum and Tyler Engle meeting with Sen.
