Congressman Fitzpatrick to vote in favor of BULB Act, shares thoughts on debt ceiling debate

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (R-8), while standing in the lobby of the Lenox Corporation in Bristol, said that he would be heading south to the nation’s capital where he would vote on the BULB Act – the Better Use of Light Bulbs Act. He was touring the facility on the afternoon of Monday, July 11.

“In 2007, Congress, under the direction of then-Speaker Pelosi, passed the Energy Independence and Security Act,” Fitzpatrick stated. “Through its provisions, the bill essentially outlawed the incandescent light bulb as a choice for consumers to purchase.”

Incandescent bulbs were replaced with its fluorescent counterpart, which Congress claimed, at the time, would save the American people $40 per year. The bill was signed into law by President George W. Bush.
