It’s a great day to be a Pennsylvania taxpayer when you witness your elected officials doing exactly what you elected them to do (“Corbett on time to sign budget bill,” Reading Eagle, July 2).

After eight years of Gov. Ed Rendell’s tax-and-spend agenda, I am relieved to see that Gov. Tom Corbett has answered voters’ desperate call for fiscal responsibility and has remained steadfast to his promises to rein in excessive government spending.

We have a budget that not only has been passed on time for the first time in eight years but also does not raise our taxes by a single cent. In these tough times we need solid leadership in Harrisburg to do what’s best for our commonwealth.

I’m proud to stand by Corbett as he does just that.
