The first-ever website for redistricting inPennsylvania has been unveiled, Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R-9) announced in a press release Thursday. The site can be accessed atwww.redistricting.state.pa.us.

“I hope this website leads to greater public involvement in the redistricting process,” Senator Pileggi said. “It’s a great tool to contact the Commission, learn the basics of redistricting, and stay informed as the Legislative Reapportionment Commission’s work progresses.”

The site’s features include interactive Google maps showing the current outlines of seats in the General Assembly and Congress, which were approved in 2001, along with the lines approved in 1991. It also makes it easy for anyone to contact the Commission, watch Commission meetings, and follow the timeline for legislative redistricting.

“This is another step forward in our ongoing effort to change the culture of Pennsylvania state government,” Senator Pileggi said. “In recent years, we have rewritten theRight-to-Know Law and created an Office of Open Records, created a searchable eLibrary of state contracts, strengthened the Sunshine Law, and passed a law creating an online database for the state budget.”
