PA GOP Endorses Candidates for U.S. Senate, Attorney General, Auditor General, Treasurer

Harrisburg, PA –The Republican Party of Pennsylvania met in Hershey today at their annual Winter Meeting and voted to endorse Steve Welch for United States Senate, David Freed for Attorney General, John Maher for Auditor General, and Diana Irey Vaughan for Treasurer.

“Great candidates are the key ingredient to a winning campaign. Today, we accomplished the first goal by endorsing a strong Republican ticket. Our Republican ticket contains four top-tier Republican candidates, each of whom possess stellar credentials for their particular race, and will be able to appeal to a broad spectrum of voters in both the Primary and General election.  We look forward to supporting Steve Welch for U.S. Senate, David Freed for Attorney General, John Maher for Auditor General and Diana Irey Vaughan for Treasurer.

“John Maher wrote the book on government auditing. A Certified Public Accountant with years of both private and public sector auditing experience, John co-wrote ‘Applying Government Accounting Principles.” He is a co-author of Pennsylvania’s Open Records Law, landmark legislation that helped open up the doors of government to all Pennsylvanians. Aa staunch proponent of transparency in government and a fiscal hawk, John will bring his outstanding credentials to the Auditor General’s office to ensure that government operates with transparency and effectiveness.”

“Being the first woman elected to the Washington County Board of Commissioners and passing seven consecutive balanced budgets without a tax increase are just a few of Diana Irey Vaughan’s many accomplishments.  Having a knack for making taxpayer dollars work for taxpayers, Diana will bring real-world executive experience to the Treasurer’s office and will be a strong manager of our taxpayer dollars.”
