Gov. Corbett’s Budget Boosts Conservation Efforts

…As proposed, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources budget for conservation and recreation efforts, including a robust community grant program, will remain intact at a time of significant funding challenges in state government. The governor also plans to make the largest funding commitment to state park and forest infrastructure in the history of the commonwealth through a two-year investment of more than $200 million for Enhance Penn’s Woods.

This initiative will invest in campgrounds, trails and boat access, add land to the state forest system and do much more, including the restoration of the lighthouse at Presque Isle State Park to open it to the public. It will enable DCNR to be better stewards of the parks and forests entrusted to us.
