What Is Tom Wolf Hiding?

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding Tom Wolf’s recent actions.

“Tom Wolf needs to learn that he can’t hide from his past forever,” Gleason said. “Three months ago, Tom Wolf went out of his way to brag about his belief in transparency and pledge to turn over ‘whatever’ documents the public wanted to see. Sadly, he’s spent the rest of his campaign refusing repeated requests for documents that could answer some of the public’s most pressing questions.

“Why is Tom Wolf being so secretive about his personal income taxes? Why won’t Tom Wolf release his corporate taxes? Why did he say that he would provide the public with ‘whatever’ the public wanted, but won’t release his loan documents? He’s even denying attempts to clarify about the number of women in his business.

“Tom Wolf’s pattern of hiding the facts is troubling. No one asked Tom Wolf to run for Governor. The public has a right to know about the parts of Tom Wolf’s background that won’t fit in a TV ad. We call on Tom Wolf to release these documents to the public in full so the voters can decide who the real Tom Wolf is.”

Tom Wolf in Feb. : “I’ll Share Whatever People Like You Want Me To Share”

During a gubernatorial forum in Philadelphia, Tom Wolf made the following pledge, “We’re a private company, but I’ll share whatever people like you want me to share — my personal tax returns, the company information…I’ll be happy to share whatever anybody wants to see. That’s been my practice throughout my business career.” (“2014 Gubernatorial Forum,” WHYY, 2/5/2014)

But Now Tom Wolf Refuses To Release:

The Loan Documents Of His Multi-Million Campaign Loan

“Wolf, who said he gave $10 million of his own money to his campaign, has released a summary of a $4.45 million loan he took out as part of that self-financing effort.” (Mary Wilson, “Schwartz presses Wolf for details on $4.5 million campaign loan,” Newsworks, 4/17/2014)

10 Years of Complete Tax Returns

“Wolf has declined to give out a copy of the agreement for the $4.45 million loan he drew in December to help fund his campaign. Rather, like his tax return, he has made it available for reporters to view while releasing certain details about it.” (Marc Levy, “Democrat Tom Wolf reports $2.2M in 2012 income,” Associated Press, 4/17/2014)

“Wolf’s campaign provided copies of two pages and summary information for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 returns, as well as for the 2013 preliminary return. The campaign allowed reporters to review full returns for 2010, 2011 and 2012 at an office in Harrisburg.” (Ed Mahon, “A look at Tom Wolf’s tax records,” York Daily Record, 4/18/2014)

His Corporate Tax Returns

After the Republican Party of Pennsylvania called on Tom Wolf to release his corporate tax returns on April 18, Tom Wolf has steadfastly refused to release the documents. (“Will Tom Wolf Release His Corporate Taxes?,” Republican Party of Pennsylvania, 4/18/2014)

Internal Audits On Gender Employment In His Business — “No Deal.”

“When asked by The Patriot-News and PennLive to share one of those reviews, Wolf campaign spokesman Mark Nicastre replied: “The Wolf Organization cannot release employee pay information or internal reviews of this nature due to the personal and proprietary nature of the documents. Even a redacted copy? No deal.” (Donald Gilliland, “Tom Wolf said his company’s management ‘has women in spades’ – Barbara Hafer says prove it,” Harrisburg Patriot News, 5/6/2014)
