Tom Wolf’s Top Legislative Ally Linked With FBI Investigation

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Megan Sweeney released the following statement regarding news that an organization associated with top Tom Wolf supporter and former state House Democrat Appropriations Chairman Dwight Evans is the subject of an FBI investigation.

“Once again, one of Tom Wolf’s top allies is linked with an investigation,” Sweeney said. “Tom Wolf has displayed a serious lack of judgment when it comes to who he allows in his inner circle. From convicted felon Stephen Stetler to state Representative Ron Waters, who’s accused of accepting envelopes full of cash, Tom Wolf’s friends keep getting investigated for corrupt activities.

“Tom Wolf accepted Dwight Evans’ endorsement even after questions started swirling about his shady use of state money. Now, Tom Wolf can add another name to his list of allies under investigation.

“It’s time for Tom Wolf to explain why he always seems to be the last to know about the alleged actions of his close friends.”

According to a report from The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Ogontz Avene Revitalization Corporation, an organization founded by state Representative Dwight Evans is the subject of an FBI investigation “focusing particularly on the organization’s finances.” The report also notes how Evans lost a re-election for state House Appropriations Democrat Chairman because of questions surrounding his appropriation of funds to his own district.
