HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement Governor Tom Corbett’s strong performance in tonight’s gubernatorial debate.
“Tonight, Governor Tom Corbett proved once again why he is the only candidate in this race that’s ready to lead Pennsylvania,” Gleason said. “Tom Corbett’s commonsense policies have created 180,000 private sector jobs, balanced four consecutive budgets, and increased education spending to its highest level in history.
“While Governor Corbett is getting results, Tom Wolf can’t even get his policy proposals straight. Tax hikes have become the centerpiece of Tom Wolf’s campaign, but he won’t come clean with the public regarding their disastrous effects on Pennsylvania families. When it comes to our state pension crisis, Tom Wolf’s idea of leadership is sticking his head in the sand. At a time when President Obama’s lack of leadership is hurting our nation, Pennsylvanians cannot afford to elect a man like Tom Wolf who views Obamacare as ‘a step in the right direction.’
“Governor Corbett has spent four years creating jobs and growing our economy. Tonight’s debate provided a clear contrast between Governor Corbett’s leadership and Tom Wolf’s continued efforts to duck as many questions about his policy proposals as possible.”
