HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding Pennsylvania’s August’s unemployment numbers.
“Under Governor Tom Corbett, Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate remains lower than the national average,” Gleason said. “When Governor Corbett took office, he was faced with a $4.2 billion budget deficit and an unemployment rate above 8 percent. In just a few short years, Governor Corbett’s commonsense policies have created 180,000 private sector jobs.”
“Governor Corbett and Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley are working hard to put Pennsylvanians back to work, and I look forward to helping to re-elect them this November.”
Today, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announced that Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate stands at 5.8%, three-tenths of a percentage point below the national average of 6.1%.
