Republicans Pass Meaningful Pension Reform

Will Governor Tom Wolf Finally Acknowledge Pennsylvania’s Pension Crisis?

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding the passage of public pension reform in the State Senate and State House.

“Republicans have put together a solution to address Pennsylvania’s worsening public pension crisis,” Gleason said. “Our Commonwealth’s pension costs are skyrocketing, and Republicans are continuing to lead the way towards substantive pension reform. With sixty cents of every new taxpayer dollar earmarked for rising pension costs, we must address our pension crisis.

“I am proud that Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, Speaker Mike Turzai, Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman, House Majority Leader Dave Reed and Senate and House Republicans for tackling such a difficult issue. It’s time for Governor Wolf to join with Republicans in supporting meaningful pension reform.”
