Sealed And Delivered: Republicans Pass On-Time, Balanced Budget With No Tax Increases

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement praising Republicans in the General Assembly for the passage of the state budget.

“Today, Republicans sent Governor Wolf a balanced budget that is on-time and does not increase taxes,” Gleason said. “The budget that was passed by the state Senate and House increases education funding, privatizes our state liquor stores, and addresses the fiscal burden of our state pension system without imposing new taxes on Pennsylvania families.

“Throughout this budget process, Governor Tom Wolf has made raising taxes his top priority. Now, it’s up to Governor Wolf to decide whether he wants to sign a budget that’s steeped in fiscal responsibility or continue to push an agenda of higher taxes and bigger government.

“I commend Senate President Pro Tempore Scarnati, Speaker Turzai, and the Republican Leadership teams in the state Senate and House for passing a budget that protects taxpayer dollars and incentivizes job creation in our great Commonwealth.”
