HARRISBURG — Following Governor Tom Wolf’s veto of House Bill 805, which would have allowed school districts to protect their best teachers from layoffs, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Megan Sweeney released the following statement.
“Today, Governor Tom Wolf once again bowed to liberal special interests at the cost of kids and their parents,” Sweeney said. “Tom Wolf has single-handedly stopped Pennsylvania’s children from being assured the best possible education by vetoing a bill that would keep the best teachers in the classroom. The education of our kids should not be determined by the agenda of Tom Wolf’s union benefactors. Tom Wolf’s veto of a commonsense piece of legislation is yet another failure to lead Pennsylvania and put our families first.
“While Tom Wolf is content to serve far-left special interests, Republicans are ready to keep standing up for the best interests of parents and kids.”
