HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement regarding the Senate Judiciary Committee’s vote to approve President Donald Trump’s nominee, Senator Jeff Sessions, as Attorney General.
“It’s time to put the political games aside and confirm Jeff Sessions as Attorney General,” Gleason said. “Senator Sessions’ distinguished legal career is rooted in a strong commitment to public service, including 15 years inside the Justice Department. Jeff Sessions is extremely qualified to serve as our next Attorney General, and it’s sad to see his reputation attacked by extreme liberals looking to score cheap political points.
“With less than two years before he’s up for re-election, Senator Bob Casey has decided to use Jeff Sessions’ nomination as a way to pander to the far-left in Washington. The fact of the matter is that the people of Pennsylvania voted for President Donald Trump and his law-and-order agenda. Senator Casey needs to listen to his constituents and vote to confirm Jeff Sessions as Attorney General.”
