Harrisburg, Pa. — Thursday, in recognition of the National Day of Prayer, President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order establishing the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative, which will help inform White House faith-based policy, ensure a focus on religious liberty, and allow for greater partnership between the federal government and the faith community.
Pennsylvania Republican Party Chairman Val DiGiorgio made the following statement on the President’s Executive Order:
“For far too long our faith community and those providing faith-based services have gone without an advocate in the White House and today President Trump showed his characteristically strong leadership in establishing the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative to ensure religious freedoms are protected and faith matters have a voice in policy discussions.
“Faith organizations have a long history of providing crucial healthcare and social services and are on the front-lines of serving their communities. Government should be in the business of helping these organizations succeed, not impeding them.
“I applaud the President’s action today and look forward to hearing more from Pennsylvania’s faith-based community about how government can help them.”
