MEMORANDUM: Tom Wolf and Bob Casey: America’s Most Liberal Ticket

Together, Tom Wolf and Bob Casey are America’s most liberal statewide ticket in the 2018 election cycle.

Combined, the two of them have terrible records of obstruction and a history of not supporting moderate, bipartisan views on issues Pennsylvanians truly care about.

TAXES

Tom Wolf and Bob Casey are eager to not only take away the tax cut ushered in by Republican leadership, but to increase taxes on working Pennsylvanians who have been struggling to work their way out of the Great Recession.

In D.C., as a prime example of his history of taking marching orders from Democratic bosses like Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders, Bob Casey voted against the historic tax reform package last year that will put, on average, $2,700 in the pockets of Pennsylvania families.

In addition, liberal-progressive Bob Casey voted for one of the largest tax increases in history by supporting Obamacare, a plan that, at the time, was estimated to increase taxes by $500 billion over a ten-year period.

Here in Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf has shown he has an obsession with not just working to erase the benefits of federal tax cuts, but to increase state taxes to historic levels—all the while using the threat of taxation to stifle home-grown growth industries.

Starting in his first two months in office, Tom Wolf proposed a $4.5 billion tax increase, the largest in Pennsylvania’s history, that would have touched everything from personal income to diapers and caskets.

While the Governor has not sought to increase taxes to that level again, not a single budget has gone by where he has not proposed some sort of tax increase in order to fill state coffers while separating Pennsylvania taxpayers from their heard-earned income.

Nowhere has this been most singular in focus than on the desire to hinder the development of Pennsylvania-made energy supplies in Tom Wolf’s quest to implement an onerous severance tax, a cost that will be passed on to Pennsylvania utility customers.

The onerous nature of this tax on Pennsylvanians becomes more evident when Pennsylvania’s ability to lead the energy market with natural gas, coupled with the federal tax cuts, has seen Pennsylvania utility bills decline and consumer natural gas infrastructure buildout continuing.

SCHOOL SAFETY

When it comes to the safety of schools, Bob Casey and Tom Wolf have sided with the ultra left in not developing any real plan or strategy to keep schools and the public safer, but are focused on merely eviscerating the Second Amendment and taking away guns.

Bob Casey, once praised as a moderate for his views on gun control, has been recently dubbed as an “evangelist for gun control laws.”

He has pushed for a ban on assault rifles, despite a federally-funded survey showing  “the ban’s impact on gun violence is likely to be small at best, and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.”

At home, Tom Wolf has abdicated responsibility for school safety, arguing “I just don’t understand how a state, on its own, can do these things.”

Meanwhile, instead of looking for real, concrete solutions to school safety issues, Tom Wolf has joined in calls to ban assault rifles.

IMMIGRATION

On immigration, both Bob Casey and Tom Wolf have records that put Pennsylvanians at risk by refusing to hold so-called “sanctuary cities” accountable for their flagrant disregard of the rule of law.

Bob Casey voted to support sanctuary cities by opposing a bill by Sen. Pat Toomey to crackdown on these law-breaking municipalities. He also flippantly commented that law enforcement doesn’t “need another job” when it comes to enforcing immigration policy.

In addition, Casey twice voted against Kate’s Law, which would set a mandatory minimum sentence of five years imprisonment for deported felons who illegally re-enter the United States.

Casey has also fundraised with pro-sanctuary city group “Protect and Elect.”

Similarly, Tom Wolf has noted “concerns” with legislation in Pennsylvania that would hold sanctuary cities accountable for their dangerous behavior and ban the ability of municipalities to label themselves as sanctuaries for illegal aliens.

While Tom Wolf believes the federal government must be the only entity responsible for enforcing our nation’s immigration laws, municipalities across Pennsylvania, including the largest city in the Commonwealth, find it acceptable to opt-out of cooperating with federal authorities who are seeking to combat dangerous criminal street gangs like MS-13 that are mostly made up of illegal aliens.

Not to mention, Tom Wolf’s new running mate, socialist-loving John Fetterman, said cooperating with federal authorities on the enforcement of current immigration laws is “profoundly un-American.”

ABORTION

Tom Wolf and Bob Casey also have an abysmal record when it comes to protecting the most innocent among us: the unborn.

For instance, in 2017, Bob Casey was given a zero-percent pro-life rating for his obstruction of pro-life federal judges and his failure to support the invalidation of the pro-abortion Title X rule.

In fact, in June of 2017 Bob Casey was photographed standing with Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, in opposition to significant pro-life legislation.

While Bob Casey did vote to support a 20-week abortion ban, he did so—at best—reluctantly. Adding, at the time, that he will continue to support the funding of the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

In Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf vetoed pro-life legislation that could have saved nearly 21,000 lives per year and banned dismemberment abortions, despite its overwhelming bipartisan passage.

In so doing, the Governor called the legislation an “attack on women” without seriously taking into account the unborn women who are the victims of abortion in Pennsylvania every year.

Also, before even seeing the legislation, Tom Wolf said he would veto legislation that would ban abortions if a heartbeat is detected.

Meanwhile, as the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed along bipartisan lines a measure that would outlaw abortions of children diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Tom Wolf has been forecasted to likely veto the bill should it reach his desk.
