PRESS RELEASE: Does Tom Wolf’s silence mean he supports John Fetterman’s socialist views and the $20 billion price tag?

A web advertisement posted by the Wolf-Fetterman election effort Wednesday shows Governor Tom Wolf comfortable working with Lt. Governor nominee John Fetterman.

Tom Wolf’s campaign Tweeted in support of the ad that “@JohnFetterman and I have what it takes to change Harrisburg together.” (emphasis added)

In his campaign for Lt. Governor, John Fetterman sought the endorsement of socialists and has been vocal about his support for:

  • Free higher education for Pennsylvanians, a move that would cost at least $7 billion in additional taxes;
  • Single-payer healthcare that proponents plan to fund by almost doubling the personal income tax (at a cost to taxpayers of over $12 billion) and adding a ten percent payroll tax on businesses; and
  • Illegal immigration, recently saying that cooperating with federal authorities on the enforcement of current immigration laws is “profoundly un-American.”

In response, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Jason Gottesman made the following statement:

“Whether it is support for sanctuary cities or his socialist views, John Fetterman is out of touch with most Pennsylvanians.

“We call on the Governor to let the voters know whether or not he agrees with the radical views of his running mate.”
