PA GOP statement on 2018 election results

Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Val DiGiorgio, made the following statement on the results of the 2018 election:

“I want to thank all of the candidates who chose to run for office. Running for elected office is never easy and I am grateful to all of our candidates who devoted their time, resources, and effort toward something in which they believe.

“Despite historical midterm headwinds and a partisan, politically-motivated state Supreme Court that inappropriately ‘put their thumb on the scale,’ Republicans were still able to hold significant ground. The reality is this midterm fell along the average post-World War II first midterm election for the Party holding the White House.

We know that a united Republican Party is unstoppable in our quest to advance liberty, opportunity and freedom. Divided, we only cede the ground of our country’s fundamental principles to a radical left that seeks nothing less than to obstruct, resist, and tear this country apart.

If there is one thing that we have seen in this election, it is that Democrats have moved so far to the left, their Party is almost unrecognizable; from candidates embracing Socialism to using mobs, threats, and intimidation to advance their left-wing agenda.

“Yet, now is the time to govern, as Pennsylvanians, as Americans. We must work to continue to create opportunity, to protect our nation and our people, and to prepare for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

As the Republican Party of Pennsylvania looks to the future, I will work with other leaders to strengthen our Party and advance our state and our nation—the greatest nation in history.”
