PA GOP statement on rally in support of Daniel Faulkner’s family and other crime victims

Tuesday night, members of the Philadelphia law enforcement community, the widow of slain police officer Daniel Faulkner, families left behind by violent crimes, and other victims rallied in support of victims’ rights in the wake of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner siding with convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal in his quest for a new trial.

Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of killing Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981.

Krasner’s decision is the latest in a line of his politically-motivated prosecutorial decisions that have left Philadelphia’s District Attorney’s Office working more for defendants than victims.

In response, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Val DiGiorgio, made the following statement:

“Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has once again completely abdicated the function of his office, putting doubt in the minds of victims and families left behind by violent, murderous criminals like Mumia Abu-Jamal.

“Instead of fulfilling a prosecutor’s obligation to stand up for the voiceless, protect law-abiding citizens, and put the worst of society away, Larry Krasner has instead decided to politicize his office and side with defendants over victims.

“Larry Krasner is not fit to hold the office to which he has been elected.”
