Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner continues to put defendants, progressive politics ahead of standing up for crime victims

The Philadelphia Inquirer Thursday ran a story on Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner’s continued lack of concern for victims by giving up the fight in more death penalty appeals.

According to the Inquirer story, Krasner’s office is being run in a manner that could “lead to chaos” in the courts as he continues to defy our legal principles by “nullifying” the verdicts of juries in giving up fighting death penalty appeals.

This is the latest in a string of decisions made by Krasner—who holds thinks of his role as Philadelphia District Attorney being a “defense attorney with power”—that has those in the legal community and law enforcement skeptical of his leadership.

In response, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Val DiGiorgio, made the following statement:

“Larry Krasner has been nothing short of an embarrassment and a disaster as Philadelphia’s District Attorney.

“Since taking office nearly 18 months ago, District Attorney Krasner has turned his back on victims and their families, created a distrust in the law enforcement community, and potentially created chaos in the law.

“Philadelphia deserves better, crime victims deserve better, and law enforcement deserves better than a District Attorney that places protection of defendants above the rule of law and standing up for victims.”
