In yet ANOTHER press conference, Auditor General Eugene DePasquale raises more questions by deflecting inquiry about political ambitions

During his second press conference in as many days, Auditor General Eugene DePasquale was asked to respond to a Republican Party of Pennsylvania Right to Know request seeking information related to costs associated with press events surrounding the release of audits, reports, and other press events held by the Department of Auditor General.

Since media coverage of these press events ends up making its way on to DePasquale’s personal campaign website and campaign social media accounts, taxpayers have a right to know the associated costs.

Responding to a reporter’s questions about the request and his future political ambitions, DePasquale declined to give a straight answer.

In response to the announcement, Republican Party of Pennsylvania Communications Director Jason Gottesman, made the following statement:

“Auditor General Eugene DePasquale continues to be coy with taxpayers about what rung on the political ladder he will seek next, yet he consistently uses the positive news of his current office to boost his campaign website, campaign social media accounts, and personal political profile.

“This leads to another logical question: When will the news from this week’s press conferences end up on Eugene DePasquale’s campaign website?

“If he is seeking another political office, taxpayers have a right to know what DePasquale’s political ambitions are costing them.”
