Get Pennsylvania Out of the Booze Business

#ConsumerChoice

Pennsylvanians have been demanding for decades that our state government out of the business of selling alcohol, and Governor Tom Corbett has listened.

Stand with Governor Corbett’s bold reforms. Sign this petition today to support Governor Corbett’s efforts to get Pennsylvania out of the business of selling liquor.

Why Does LCB Reform Matter?

  • Pennsylvania is one of only two states where the state government is in the business of selling wine and liquor. Pennsylvanians have been denied the convenience that nearly every other American enjoys of being able to purchase beer, wine and liquor in one place.  It is a broken system in dire need of modernization and reform.
  • Governor Corbett’s plan will sell off the state-owned liquor stores to end Pennsylvania’s monopoly on liquor sales. As a result, new businesses will sprout throughout the Commonwealth that will create jobs.
  • Next, Governor Corbett will reform the law to allow beer and wine to be sold at grocery stores. This means that consumers will no longer have to drive all around their towns to access the products they want.  However, with greater access comes greater responsibility, and Governor Corbett will continue taking a tough, no-nonsense stance against those businesses and individuals who break the law. To keep Pennsylvanians safe, Governor Corbett will dramatically increase the penalties for serving alcohol to minors or those without proper ID, and will invest more Pennsylvania dollars into education and prevention programs.
  • The best part of Governor Corbett’s plan is that he will take the profits from selling off state-owned liquor stores – an estimated $1 billion - to fund Pennsylvania education. This means more money for our students and schools.
