Congressional Update: Lou Barletta

-

Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta recently announced his decision to run for Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District.

In his web video announcement Barletta said that, “Hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars have been poured into bailing out our economy with little effect. Businesses of all sizes have fallen into bankruptcy. As they do, more and more people lose their jobs every day… We need a congressman in Washington who is not afraid to stand up to anyone for what is right."

PA GOP Chairman Rob Gleason stated that Republican Congressional candidates like Lou Barletta, “will fight against the big government, tax and spend agenda that is currently being advanced in Washington, D.C.” He continues, “At a time when the 11th Congressional District is saddled with a congressman who views taxpayer dollars as ‘free money’ and who did nothing to stop one of the worst financial crises in our nation’s history, Lou Barletta will serve as a much needed breath of fresh air.”

The Democrats are frightened by dismal poll numbers and failing policies. Now, without the coattails of President Obama’s 2008 numbers, Kanjorski recognizes his dire position as a Democratic incumbent in the 2010 elections.

Chairman Gleason recently noted that, “As the Republican Party continues to gain momentum, we have been able to recruit strong and experienced leaders to run for office next year. With the Democrats on the run, the Republican Party of Pennsylvania is committed to electing the best candidates who will bring strong Republican principals to their respective offices.” And Lou Barletta’s announcement is a direct correlation of that mission statement.

The American people want health care reform that makes careful common-sense adjustments to our current system. But over the past several months, as more and more of the truth about the Democrats’ proposals has been revealed, Americans have come to the conclusion that the Obama-Pelosi-Reid bill is NOT the right solution. The latest Rasmussen poll shows this mood clearly:
