PA GOP: Congressman Holden’s Record Out Of Touch With State Of The Union Message

Press Release

HARRISBURG - While President Obama appears to be shifting course and testing out a new message after a host of embarrassing losses both in Congress and at the ballot box, Congressman Tim Holden continues to stick with his leader Speaker Nancy Pelosi and recently voted in favor of increasing the national debt by $290 billion to a total of $12.4 trillion.

"Perhaps Congressman Holden figured that the failed trillion-dollar 'stimulus' plan he supported a year ago needed a boost," Republican Party of Pennsylvania spokesman Mike Barley said.

"People across the 17th Congressional District have had enough of the government spending sprees and are looking for real leadership and real solutions out of Washington," Barley added.  "The failed stimulus showed us that increased government spending isn't going to save the economy and more borrowing is only going to sink us further into debt."

The Democrat policies of prolific spending, government takeovers and higher taxes have had a chilling effect on job creation.  More than 6 million jobs have been lost since Democrats took control of Congress three years ago.  In addition, 2.7 million jobs have been lost since the president signed the stimulus bill pushed through by Congressman Holden, Speaker Pelosi and their Democratic allies in Congress.
