Santarsiero Election Law Violation Complaint Filed

HARRISBURG — Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission today regarding a flagrantly illegal website run by Democrat Congressional candidate and State Representative Steve Santarsiero.

“I called on the FEC to investigate Democrat Steve Santarsiero today because the evidence is clear that his dirty trick website broke the law,” said Gleason. “By running a website claiming to be another candidate for Congress, Democrat Steve Santarsiero resorted to the lowest of the lows.”

“Santarsiero is a desperate career Democrat politician who is looking at the end of his political career in 2016,” continued Gleason.

Santarsiero for Congress posted the parody website “ElectBrianFitzpatrick.com” in January 2016. The web url and content on “ElectBrianFitzpatrick.com” intentionally creates the false impression that it is the authorized campaign committee of Brian Fitzpatrick, which is a violation under 11 C.F.R. § 102.14. Furthermore, the FEC has issued two well-documented Advisory Opinions detailing why dirty tricks like Santariero’s are illegal.
