HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania GOP Chairman Val DiGiorgio released the following statement after Tom Wolf’s decision to veto a bill banning abortion at the 20 week mark:
“Medical advances have taught us two things. First, babies can be viable outside the womb as early as 20 weeks. Second, babies suffer from the pain of abortion as early as 20 weeks.
“With this knowledge in mind, the Pennsylvania General Assembly showed compassion by outlawing abortions after 20 weeks and ending dismemberment abortions — a horrific procedure. In vetoing this common sense and compassionate legislation, Governor Wolf shows less regard for innocent life than he does for terrorists and murders on death row. He also tows progressive line of the acceptance of abortion anytime anywhere and under any circumstance. Sad.”
