PA GOP Chairman’s Update – April 14, 2019

Dear supporters, friends, and those interested in the Republican Party of Pennsylvania:

This week, I was proud to participate in a panel discussion with Pennsylvania Democrat Party Chairwoman Nancy Patton Mills at Franklin & Marshall College where we talked with students, faculty, and the public about civil political discourse and political polarization.

It was an interesting evening and I was proud to engage in this important discussion. As I’ve said in the past, we must remain truthful and policy-based in our discussions. There is a difference between compromise and civil discourse and we can always work harder to ensure we are vigorously and passionately providing our side with charity.

Speaking of our side of the issues, it is important this week to speak up on behalf of our principles with socialist Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders coming to Pennsylvania Sunday and Monday.

To quote our President – “America will never be a socialist country.” Bernie Sanders’ plan for America is fundamentally at odds with our nation’s values and would transform us into a government-controlled authoritarian society where we lose our individual freedom and ability to pursue our own happiness.

His support for dangerous policies like Medicare for All stand in stark contrast to American values and our notion of independence.

This week, we will be leading the charge, along with grassroots volunteers in telling the truth about Bernie Sanders’ socialist agenda as he comes to Pennsylvania:

  • The truth about his support for the $93 trillion Green New Deal, which would cost average Pennsylvania households an extra $600,000 in tax increases and fundamentally transform our constitutional notions of limited government;
  • The truth about his proposal for the government takeover of healthcare, which would cost American taxpayers $32 trillion over ten years and eliminate private health insurance and individual autonomy over health care decisions; and
  • The truth about his support for guaranteed jobs with at least a $15 minimum wage, which would actually cost Pennsylvania over 30,000 new jobs.

In addition, I encourage you all to fill out this petition to tell Bernie Sanders how you feel about the government takeover of health care.

The radical agenda of Bernie Sanders and the other radical Democrat presidential candidates make me proud to support our President, Donald Trump, whose support of free markets, deregulation, and providing tax cuts has put this country’s economy in the best position it’s been in decades.

I hope you will join me in continuing to support our President in the face of so many ideological dangers espoused by the left in this country.
