PA GOP Chairman’s Update – May 5, 2019

Dear supporters, friends, and those interested in the Republican Party of Pennsylvania:

We did a lot of work this week in carrying the Republican message, standing up for the President Trump, and calling out Democrats on their extremism.

On Monday, I was glad to be joined by State Rep. Tarah Toohil and union shop owner Jim Gaffney from Goshen Mechanical Contractors on a press conference call to bring to Vice-President Joe Biden’s record of failure during the Obama-Biden years.

That message this week was bolstered by news that the unemployment rate dropped to 3.6 percent—the lowest it has been in 49 years—and new job creation exceeded expectations.

What Barack Obama and Joe Biden once called a “new normal” for a stagnant economy and unemployment consistently near five percent has been completely reversed by President Trump and Republican leadership in what is one of the best economic climates in generations.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, a return to the Obama-Biden years will mean a return to some of this country’s least promising days.

Elsewhere this week, the PA GOP took the lead in calling out Auditor General Eugene DePasquale for using positive news from his official work to boost his personal political profile as he seeks new office.

Also this week, we called out Democrat State Rep. Danielle Friel Otten from Chester County for calling blue-collar workers doing their job “Nazis.” This kind of reprehensible conduct is beyond the pale of acceptability for a state representative.

I was also happy to see 12th Congressional District Special Election Republican nominee Fred Keller receive the endorsement of the US Chamber of Business and Industry for his commitment to free market principles. He also had a tremendous performance in a debate on Thursday.

On top of that, President Trump gave his endorsement to Rep. Keller on Friday.

I was also excited to see some of the work Republicans in the General Assembly literally pay off this week with positive state revenue numbers that are coming in well ahead of estimates. These results are the culmination of legislative Republicans standing up for taxpayers and against Tom Wolf’s tax and spend policies and I thank them for that.

That wasn’t the only good news Pennsylvania had this week.

For the past two-plus years President Trump has been talking about his support for the steel industry and just this week, that support has paid off for Pennsylvania with U.S. Steel announcing a $1 billion investment into their Mon Valley Works operation.

This is great news for Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania workers. You can read more about that by clicking HERE or on the image below.

It is for these reasons—among many others—why I was proud to see Congressman John Joyce (R-PA) explain to voters in a Fox News opinion piece about why President Trump will win re-election with the help of Pennsylvania.

I encourage you to read that HERE.
