RELEASE: Republican Party of Pennsylvania announces date for Conferee Meeting for the 48th Senate District

HARRISBURG– The Republican Party of Pennsylvania announces the conferee meeting to fill the vacancy in Pennsylvania’s 48th Senatorial District will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Zimmerman Room of Lebanon Valley College located at 101 College Ave, Annville, PA 17003.

Due to the fact that this Senatorial District is made up of more than one county, PA GOP Bylaws dictate that the State Party preside over the conferee meeting.  Each of the counties that comprise the 48th Senatorial District, which includes all of Lebanon and parts of Dauphin and York counties, will be represented by their respective number of allotted conferees based on the electoral results of the 2016 presidential election.  Conferees are registered Republican electors that reside in the 48th Senatorial District.

There are 72 total conferees who will be participating in the meeting.  Each county is allotted the following number of conferees:

Lebanon County – 41

York County – 17

Dauphin County – 14

Any registered Republican, 25 years or older, and who resides in the 48th Senatorial District may seek the Party’s nomination. They are asked to notify the State Party Chairman so that we can ensure that every interested candidate is included in the process.  Interested candidates must send a letter of intent as well as their resume or CV no later than Friday, October 4th, 2019.  The letter of intent can be emailed to:

Gerry Wosewick at [email protected]

During the conferee meeting, each candidate will have the opportunity to make a short presentation and take questions from conferees.  After every candidate has had an opportunity to address the conferees, the conferees will vote to nominate a candidate to fill our Party’s position on the ballot.  A nominated candidate must have a majority plus one of the votes cast to earn the nomination.
